Weaving the Future by overseer Weaving the Future by overseer
Since "Terminator - The Sarah Connor Chronicles" began I've been burning to do a series themed picture.

Well, here goes. I finally had the time and will power to do it.

--
Background: stock.xchng, some minor fixes, additions, brush-ups in PS.

T-1001 (inlcuding file): My own work (Poser, Vue)

Time: ~3 hours, 21 layers and Terminator and TSCC soundtracks! ;)
--

The title is inspired by the name of the T-1001 character, Catherine Weaver. Getting the mood, saturation and lighting right was difficult. The hardest part were the reflections in the T-1001 liquid metal surface as I could not render her in the background it being a 2D image, but I think I got there. Finally I also applied a little bit of a film grain to the image.

Comments and critique welcome as usual. Enjoy.

Thanks!

Yes, she was and the "Samson and Delilah" song that started the first episode of season 2 has since then made it among some of my all time favourites. It's good to see the acting hasn't actually changed her way of singing! ;)

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, needs YOUR help!

The show has recently suffered a drop in ratings, and rumours and speculation are flying around that the show might not make it to a third Season. This would be a crying shame to all of us who watch, and we need to do something about it. You may say "what can I do about it?" Well, here's the answer; when it seemed doubtful that TSCC would even get the back 9 episodes, massive fan response - including petitions and a mail and email campaign, helped get FOX to greenlight the back 9 episodes. I firmly believe that the ratings will improve and that the show will pick up its pace again within the next two episodes. But I fear that the ratings so far may have hurt our chances.

If you want to see TSCC make it to Season 3, then please take some of your time to write to both FOX and Warner Bros and make our voices heard. There are no Nielsen boxes in either college dorms nor in military bases - both groups make up a large chunk of FOX' desired 18-49 demographic (so any students and serving soldiers reading this, LISTEN UP!) we need to write to FOX and Warner Bros; tell them you love the show. Tell them WHY you love the show. (don't list things you don't like, there are forums to bicker about that) Tell them of the potential you see in the show. Include some basice demographic information (age, sex, country, maybe occupation).

Here's the addresses to write to:

FOX: askfox@fox.com

Warner Bros: Scott.rowe@warnerbros.com

I've also created a petition, urging FOX to renew the show for a third season, and as part of an overall fan effort to support the show and try to get Season 3. I believe there's every chance we will get a Season 3, but I also don't want to leave it to chance, and if enough of us do this, it might help tip the scales slightly in TSCC's favour. Fan response got us the back 9; it can do it again.

Here's the link: [link] Please take just a minute of your time to click on it and sign. It costs nothing but a moment of your time, and could help make a difference.

The future's not set; there's no fate but what WE make!

This image is really good!

Pretty cool is the arm morphed into a spike. Did you deform the model yourself or hidden the hand and attached & deformed a primitive?

I know, that chrome / liquid metal can really tax the rendering resources, when using Vue's opposite - Carrara. And can be tough getting a proper reflection from a 2d photo. Thats the primary reason I switched from Daz Studio to Carrara.

Still, all in all, awesome work, it ranks right up there with some of Fox's Weaver promo posters. Also, the confidential folder with the 3 dots was a brilliant touch.

Thanks for your comments. :) I had the idea for the folder while thinking about what I can add to make this a definite TSCC piece and what would be suited better than the 3-dot symbol?

Carrara sounds and seems very good. I really have to give this a closer look.

To answer your question in regards to the spiked "hand£. I had the idea for this pretty late in the development process, so this was done in Photoshop using the clone stamp and smudge tools. It's not part of the original 3D model, and yes, the reflections were the hard part.

I've never seen the series (I refuse to accept anything beyond T2), but this looks real nice! Great to see you doing stuff again :)

Thanks. Just never enough time in the day!

As for the show... I wasn't sure at first either, but it's really good. You have to see it as an alternate future, because in T2 the future was changed. ;)
