"...us up like a roast." - Cmdr William Riker

Based on the STTNG episode "Q Who?" from Season 2. The title is the words uttered by Cmdr. Riker when the Borg take a piece of the hull from the Enterprise.

Yes, the TNG effects etc. are wanted. And yes, the cube is TNG style as well. I might be borderline senile, but I know what I'm doing! ;)

I've combined several shots from the original episode in this scene. Please see below for screen caps.

SSTNG 2x16 Screencap 2
SSTNG 2x16 Screencap 3

---

Background: Starfield by me.

Meshes: Galaxy-class by Prologic9. TNG Style Borg Cube by Ed Giddings.

Composition: Scene (with photo backdrop), lighting setup and rendering in LW. Composed final piece in PS. All additional effects (glows, tractor beams, phaser fire, explosions, damage etc.) done in PS. Added additional blendings and light/constrast adaptions.

Star Trek © Paramount Pictures, All Rights Reserved.

Original size: 1920x1200.

Total time approx. 12 hours of which about ~4 hours render time (render composed in several stages to allow post processing, plus rerender of the cube with green glows) with 76 layers in PS.

Comments and critique welcome as usual. Full view recommended. Enjoy.

Update August 2011.

Worked over blendings, explosion, tractor beam, phaser blast and added some glows/smoke to the Enterprise hull.

Updated SEP 2012.

Don't take this the wrong way but you have the cube cutting a different section then what was shown on the episode, the borg cut at the outer lower left corner of the 0 from the registry number in the episode. You don't have to correct it, I'm just being picky about th accuracy. Awesome job though

Thanks and no worries. I haven't actually looked that closely, I admit. Maybe I'll redo it one day, especially once I see what they did on the blu-ray release! ;)

Wouldn't go as far to say that it is the best Star Trek episode ever, but it certainly is special; Trek historically speaking.
