Cannon to right of them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon in front of them Volley'd and thunder'd; Storm'd at with shot and shell, Boldly they rode and well, Into the jaws of Death, Into the mouth of Hell Rode the six hundred.
From "The Charge of the Light Brigade" --Alfred, Lord Tennyson
During the Domion War's siege of Deep Space Nine by Cardassian and Dominion forces, Captain Sisko devised a plan to take back the station; a fleet of 600 Starfleet vessels faced twice as large an enemy force.
The orders were simple, "...anyone who gets through doesn't stop until they reach Deep Space Nine!"
COMPOSITION: Starfield was rendered, the remaining background elements, especially the explosion fx were composited/digitally painted from scratch in Photoshop by me. The setup of the ships with lighting rig and subsequent render was done in Lightwave. I've made some texture changes to the Defiant and the Bird of Prey. The remaining post work was done in Photoshop.
MESHES:Defiant class by Skye Dodds, Peregrine class by Arctorus, Bird Of Prey by Fabio Passaro, Galor class by Ed Giddings.

Thank you to *TreeClimber for pointing out a few kinks I had overlooked! ♥
It's early season 6. "Favor The Bold" and "Sacrifice Of Angels" I think they're called. I think the last episodes of season 5 and the first 6 or 7 of season six kinda tie together in a larger single story arch. They're really not bad. First time really you saw huge fleets assembled on screen in Star Trek like that as I recall.
Think though, you got the wrong scene in mind. This double episode ended with the Prophets making the Dominion fleet in the Bajoran wormhole disappear. The NX Defiant was destroyed by mainly Breen weapons. That battle happened, if memory serves, in the Chin'toka system about one season later.
