:bulletred::bulletred::bulletred: Thank you very much to everyone for all the :+fav:s and the interest in this piece! :bulletred::bulletred::bulletred:
I usually make it a point to thank everyone individually, because I never take interest in my work - by anyone - for granted, but in this case it's just too much! Every single comment and :+fav: is truly appreciated though! It means a lot.

Based on a scene from Star Wars - Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back; plus a little artistic freedom!

The Millenium Falcon and Luke Skywalker in his X-Wing are escaping from the Rebel base on Hoth during an attack by Imperial Forces.

WALLPAPER VERSION:

COMPOSITION: Terrain composed, textured and rendered in Bryce 7.1 Pro. My work. Remaining scene setup and render in Lightwave with final composition (including all FX) in Photoshop.

MESHES: Millenium Falcon by Andy Crook (with texture modifications by me) & X-Wing Fighter by Don Showalter.

The scene where the Millennium Falcon and the X-Wing fighter escape from Hoth is simply... stunning. It simply recaptures the scene from The Empire Strikes Back. The visuals on those starships what I mentioned looked really fantastic and movie-accurate.

I can even see the ion cannon at the background. Technique-wise, those 3D models were professionally positioned, and then giving them texture, advanced shadowing, and effects for those engines to give them a drop of realism on them. The only nit-pick what I have about this picture was the originality. I don't know what to say about the originality, but I should give it a middle rating. Overall, this is a really outstanding piece of Star Wars art you did.

excellent work, curious as to how you created the jet stream.

Thank you very much.

As for the jet stream, I believe I did that in post with Photoshop for this one, in which case it was probably a simple line with a gaussian and motion blur applied. Something like that, then duplicate that and use Transform ('Warp') to apply a slight curve to it, and a layer mask with a gradient to make it fade out (if you apply a black/white gradient to a layer mask, one end will fade into transparency).

This is a nice piece the individually textured panels on the falcon give it a realistic look. The attention to detail is amazing. I would use a bit more color in the engine effects but it looks great even without that. Overall I would have to say this piece is really good and you should be proud of it.

Thank you.

I've played around with a lot of differen hues, but overall I'm not a fan of overly vibrant looking colors, because to me they can start looking unrealistic pretty quick. Maybe I will have another play eventually!

I often reduce the amount of color in many of my images for a more "realistic" look. I guess it really depends on what you're going for but like I said, It's a great piece either way.

haha it must be the innate perception of an artist. it is said that the golden ratio is perceived as beautiful and as artist we do pursue this in whatever shape or form. got a little romantic there haha
